release resolc v1.3.0 (#548)
## v1.3.0 Supported `polkadot-sdk` rev: `2604.2.0` ### Added - The newyork IR code size optimization pipeline, selectable via the `--newyork` CLI flag or the `settings.polkavm.newyork` standard JSON input field. This can reduce code size by up to 50%. Considered a new and experimental feature, switched off by default. [#519](https://github.com/paritytech/revive/pull/519) ### Changed - The latest supported `polkadot-sdk` version is now `2604.2.0` Signed-off-by: xermicus <cyrill@parity.io> |

The new Yul optimizer toolkit (#519)
This PR introduces powerful code size optimizations. This is achieved with an additional IR layer in between Yul and LLVM IR. It works quite well (see below for a comparison) because it captures optimization gains that neither solc nor LLVM can realize. The feature is gated behind `--newyork` or a corresponding standard JSON input setting and **off by default**. ### How it works We implemented an SSA IR modelled after or inspired by the [MLIR SCF dialect](https://mlir.llvm.org/docs/Dialects/SCFDialect/). Yul is translated into this IR and the IR implements mainly the following optimizations: - **Type narrowing**: narrows 256-bit values to I1..I160 where provable (bidirectional + interprocedural), so LLVM emits native 32/64-bit ops instead of software 256-bit arithmetic. - **FMP range proof**: exposes the `mload(0x40) < heap_size` bound to LLVM IPSCCP, eliminating trailing overflow checks on FMP-derived offsets. Single largest code-size contributor. - **Heap analysis**: skips big-endian byte-swaps where native little-endian layout is safe. - **mem_opt / keccak fusion+folding**, **compound outlining** (mapping sload/sstore), **guard narrowing**, **inlining** tuned for PolkaVM, and **exact + fuzzy function dedup**. ### Results The optimizations implemented with the newyork IR bring substantial code size improvements. - Integration contracts: approximately **-20% to -50%** code size. - OpenZeppelin Wizard corpus: around **-47%** code size. This table shows the code size improvements on various OpenZeppelin ERC implementations, taken from their [contracts wizard](https://wizard.openzeppelin.com/), with almost all features enabled. | Contract | Default: (bytes) | With `--newyork`: (bytes) | Reduction | |---|---:|---:|---:| | erc1155 | 59,206 | 30,649 | -48.2% | | erc20 | 81,697 | 42,893 | -47.5% | | erc721 | 92,052 | 49,423 | -46.3% | | oz_gov | 141,861 | 81,159 | -42.8% | | oz_rwa | 77,274 | 37,975 | -50.9% | | oz_simple_erc20 | 29,950 | 16,554 | -44.7% | | oz_stable | 82,117 | 39,032 | -52.5% | | **Total** | **564,157** | **297,685** | **-47.2%** | We believe this to be a reasonably representative dataset and conclude that the newyork IR achieves drastic code size reductions on real world dApp implementations. ### Methodology, security and runtime performance Since the main contributors to these improvements are the FMP range proofs and the type narrowing, we don't expect big runtime performance regressions (it may even benefit runtime performance in some cases). The PR also includes docs (`book/src/developer_guide/newyork_{optimizer,ir}.md`) and many new integration tests, including regression tests for known FMP soundness traps. The PR was authored collaboratively and reviewed extensively by the `revive` maintainers, as well as Claude Opus, Claude Fable, Qwen, Minimax and Deepseek LLMs, over a span of many months. The `newyork` compiler pipeline introduces no new regressions over our integration and differential test suites (containing over 30000 test cases). This was achieved by careful manual reviews and many LLM bughunt loops. Additionally, a final security review by Anthropic's Fable 5 LLM found no remaining soundness issues. Nonetheless, like any brand new software, please consider this an experimental feature upon release. --------- Signed-off-by: xermicus <bigcyrill@hotmail.com> Signed-off-by: xermicus <cyrill@parity.io> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: neo <me@90f9.org> Co-authored-by: LJ <81748770+elle-j@users.noreply.github.com> |

release resolc v1.2.0 (#534)
Supported `polkadot-sdk` rev: `2603` ### Changed - Updated `LLVM` from `21.1.8` to LLVM `22.1.4` ### Added - Support for solc v0.8.35. ### Fixed - A constant folding bug causing incorrect translation of a signed remainder edge case. The affected pattern (Solidity % or Yul smod): - SREM over the two constant operands `type(int256).min` and `-1`. - At least one of the two constants needs folding (i.e. not just `type(int256).min % -1`), and is written specifically such that solc doesn't fold but LLVM does, resulting in UB (signed-overflow). - Fix `mulmod` returning out-of-range result for large moduli. --------- Signed-off-by: Cyrill Leutwiler <bigcyrill@hotmail.com> |

Bump time from 0.3.45 to 0.3.47 (#471)
Bumps [time](https://github.com/time-rs/time) from 0.3.45 to 0.3.47. <details> <summary>Release notes</summary> <p><em>Sourced from <a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/releases">time's releases</a>.</em></p> <blockquote> <h2>v0.3.47</h2> <p>See the <a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md">changelog</a> for details.</p> <h2>v0.3.46</h2> <p>See the <a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md">changelog</a> for details.</p> </blockquote> </details> <details> <summary>Changelog</summary> <p><em>Sourced from <a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md">time's changelog</a>.</em></p> <blockquote> <h2>0.3.47 [2026-02-05]</h2> <h3>Security</h3> <ul> <li> <p>The possibility of a stack exhaustion denial of service attack when parsing RFC 2822 has been eliminated. Previously, it was possible to craft input that would cause unbounded recursion. Now, the depth of the recursion is tracked, causing an error to be returned if it exceeds a reasonable limit.</p> <p>This attack vector requires parsing user-provided input, with any type, using the RFC 2822 format.</p> </li> </ul> <h3>Compatibility</h3> <ul> <li>Attempting to format a value with a well-known format (i.e. RFC 3339, RFC 2822, or ISO 8601) will error at compile time if the type being formatted does not provide sufficient information. This would previously fail at runtime. Similarly, attempting to format a value with ISO 8601 that is only configured for parsing (i.e. <code>Iso8601::PARSING</code>) will error at compile time.</li> </ul> <h3>Added</h3> <ul> <li>Builder methods for format description modifiers, eliminating the need for verbose initialization when done manually.</li> <li><code>date!(2026-W01-2)</code> is now supported. Previously, a space was required between <code>W</code> and <code>01</code>.</li> <li><code>[end]</code> now has a <code>trailing_input</code> modifier which can either be <code>prohibit</code> (the default) or <code>discard</code>. When it is <code>discard</code>, all remaining input is ignored. Note that if there are components after <code>[end]</code>, they will still attempt to be parsed, likely resulting in an error.</li> </ul> <h3>Changed</h3> <ul> <li>More performance gains when parsing.</li> </ul> <h3>Fixed</h3> <ul> <li>If manually formatting a value, the number of bytes written was one short for some components. This has been fixed such that the number of bytes written is always correct.</li> <li>The possibility of integer overflow when parsing an owned format description has been effectively eliminated. This would previously wrap when overflow checks were disabled. Instead of storing the depth as <code>u8</code>, it is stored as <code>u32</code>. This would require multiple gigabytes of nested input to overflow, at which point we've got other problems and trivial mitigations are available by downstream users.</li> </ul> <h2>0.3.46 [2026-01-23]</h2> <h3>Added</h3> <ul> <li>All possible panics are now documented for the relevant methods.</li> <li>The need to use <code>#[serde(default)]</code> when using custom <code>serde</code> formats is documented. This applies only when deserializing an <code>Option<T></code>.</li> <li><code>Duration::nanoseconds_i128</code> has been made public, mirroring <code>std::time::Duration::from_nanos_u128</code>.</li> </ul> <!-- raw HTML omitted --> </blockquote> <p>... (truncated)</p> </details> <details> <summary>Commits</summary> <ul> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/d5144cd2874862d46466c900910cd8577d066019"><code>d5144cd</code></a> v0.3.47 release</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/f6206b050fd54817d8872834b4d61f605570e89b"><code>f6206b0</code></a> Guard against integer overflow in release mode</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/1c63dc7985b8fa26bd8c689423cc56b7a03841ee"><code>1c63dc7</code></a> Avoid denial of service when parsing Rfc2822</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/5940df6e72efb63d246ca1ca59a0f836ad32ad8a"><code>5940df6</code></a> Add builder methods to avoid verbose construction</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/00881a4da1bc5a6cb6313052e5017dbd7daa40f0"><code>00881a4</code></a> Manually format macros everywhere</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/bb723b6d826e46c174d75cd08987061984b0ceb7"><code>bb723b6</code></a> Add <code>trailing_input</code> modifier to <code>end</code></li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/31c4f8e0b56e6ae24fe0d6ef0e492b6741dda783"><code>31c4f8e</code></a> Permit <code>W12</code> in <code>date!</code> macro</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/490a17bf306576850f33a86d3ca95d96db7b1dcd"><code>490a17b</code></a> Mark error paths in well-known formats as cold</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/6cb1896a600be1538ecfab8f233fe9cfe9fa8951"><code>6cb1896</code></a> Optimize <code>Rfc2822</code> parsing</li> <li><a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/6d264d59c25e3da0453c3defebf4640b0086a006"><code>6d264d5</code></a> Remove erroneous <code>#[inline(never)]</code> attributes</li> <li>Additional commits viewable in <a href="https://github.com/time-rs/time/compare/v0.3.45...v0.3.47">compare view</a></li> </ul> </details> <br /> [](https://docs.github.com/en/github/managing-security-vulnerabilities/about-dependabot-security-updates#about-compatibility-scores) Dependabot will resolve any conflicts with this PR as long as you don't alter it yourself. Add integration test for deleting struct (#459)
Differentially tests the behavior of deleting a struct with a member that do not occupy the full 32-byte slot. From [this issue](https://github.com/paritytech/contract-issues/issues/118) it was unclear whether the `delete` was expected to reset only the bytes occupied or the entire slot. The current behavior of resetting the entire slot is expected. |

Bumps [tokio](https://github.com/tokio-rs/tokio) from 1.43.0 to 1.44.2. <details> <summary>Release notes</summary> <p><em>Sourced from <a href="https://github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/releases">tokio's releases</a>.</em></p> <blockquote> <h2>Tokio v1.44.2</h2> <p>This release fixes a soundness issue in the broadcast channel. The channel accepts values that are <code>Send</code> but <code>!Sync</code>. Previously, the channel called <code>clone()</code> on these values without synchronizing. This release fixes the channel by synchronizing calls to <code>.clone()</code> (Thanks Austin Bonander for finding and reporting the issue).</p> <h3>Fixed</h3> <ul> <li>sync: synchronize <code>clone()</code> call in broadcast channel (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7232">#7232</a>)</li> </ul> <p><a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7232">#7232</a>: <a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/pull/7232">tokio-rs/tokio#7232</a></p> <h2>Tokio v1.44.1</h2> <h1>1.44.1 (March 13th, 2025)</h1> <h3>Fixed</h3> <ul> <li>rt: skip defer queue in <code>block_in_place</code> context (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7216">#7216</a>)</li> </ul> <p><a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7216">#7216</a>: <a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/pull/7216">tokio-rs/tokio#7216</a></p> <h2>Tokio v1.44.0</h2> <h1>1.44.0 (March 7th, 2025)</h1> <p>This release changes the <code>from_std</code> method on sockets to panic if a blocking socket is provided. We determined this change is not a breaking change as Tokio is not intended to operate using blocking sockets. Doing so results in runtime hangs and should be considered a bug. Accidentally passing a blocking socket to Tokio is one of the most common user mistakes. If this change causes an issue for you, please comment on <a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7172">#7172</a>.</p> <h3>Added</h3> <ul> <li>coop: add <code>task::coop</code> module (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7116">#7116</a>)</li> <li>process: add <code>Command::get_kill_on_drop()</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7086">#7086</a>)</li> <li>sync: add <code>broadcast::Sender::closed</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/6685">#6685</a>, <a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7090">#7090</a>)</li> <li>sync: add <code>broadcast::WeakSender</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7100">#7100</a>)</li> <li>sync: add <code>oneshot::Receiver::is_empty()</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7153">#7153</a>)</li> <li>sync: add <code>oneshot::Receiver::is_terminated()</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7152">#7152</a>)</li> </ul> <h3>Fixed</h3> <ul> <li>fs: empty reads on <code>File</code> should not start a background read (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7139">#7139</a>)</li> <li>process: calling <code>start_kill</code> on exited child should not fail (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7160">#7160</a>)</li> <li>signal: fix <code>CTRL_CLOSE</code>, <code>CTRL_LOGOFF</code>, <code>CTRL_SHUTDOWN</code> on windows (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7122">#7122</a>)</li> <li>sync: properly handle panic during mpsc drop (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7094">#7094</a>)</li> </ul> <h3>Changes</h3> <ul> <li>runtime: clean up magic number in registration set (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7112">#7112</a>)</li> <li>coop: make coop yield using waker defer strategy (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7185">#7185</a>)</li> <li>macros: make <code>select!</code> budget-aware (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7164">#7164</a>)</li> <li>net: panic when passing a blocking socket to <code>from_std</code> (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7166">#7166</a>)</li> <li>io: clean up buffer casts (<a href="https://redirect.github.com/tokio-rs/tokio/issues/7142">#7142</a>)</li> </ul> <!-- raw HTML omitted --> </blockquote> <p>...
