Aaro Altonen 80616f6d03 Integrate litep2p into Polkadot SDK (#2944)
[litep2p](https://github.com/altonen/litep2p) is a libp2p-compatible P2P
networking library. It supports all of the features of `rust-libp2p`
that are currently being utilized by Polkadot SDK.

Compared to `rust-libp2p`, `litep2p` has a quite different architecture
which is why the new `litep2p` network backend is only able to use a
little of the existing code in `sc-network`. The design has been mainly
influenced by how we'd wish to structure our networking-related code in
Polkadot SDK: independent higher-levels protocols directly communicating
with the network over links that support bidirectional backpressure. A
good example would be `NotificationHandle`/`RequestResponseHandle`
abstractions which allow, e.g., `SyncingEngine` to directly communicate
with peers to announce/request blocks.

I've tried running `polkadot --network-backend litep2p` with a few
different peer configurations and there is a noticeable reduction in
networking CPU usage. For high load (`--out-peers 200`), networking CPU
usage goes down from ~110% to ~30% (80 pp) and for normal load
(`--out-peers 40`), the usage goes down from ~55% to ~18% (37 pp).

These should not be taken as final numbers because:

a) there are still some low-hanging optimization fruits, such as
enabling [receive window
auto-tuning](https://github.com/libp2p/rust-yamux/pull/176), integrating
`Peerset` more closely with `litep2p` or improving memory usage of the
WebSocket transport
b) fixing bugs/instabilities that incorrectly cause `litep2p` to do less
work will increase the networking CPU usage
c) verification in a more diverse set of tests/conditions is needed

Nevertheless, these numbers should give an early estimate for CPU usage
of the new networking backend.

This PR consists of three separate changes:
* introduce a generic `PeerId` (wrapper around `Multihash`) so that we
don't have use `NetworkService::PeerId` in every part of the code that
uses a `PeerId`
* introduce `NetworkBackend` trait, implement it for the libp2p network
stack and make Polkadot SDK generic over `NetworkBackend`
  * implement `NetworkBackend` for litep2p

The new library should be considered experimental which is why
`rust-libp2p` will remain as the default option for the time being. This
PR currently depends on the master branch of `litep2p` but I'll cut a
new release for the library once all review comments have been
addresses.

**Note:** The usage of the words `Merkle`, `Merkelize`, `Merklization`,
`Merkelization`, `Merkleization`, is somewhat inconsistent but I left it
as it is.

~~**Note:** In some places the term `Receival` is used to refer to
message reception, IMO `Reception` is the correct word here, but I left
it as it is.~~

~~**Note:** In some places the term `Overlayed` is used instead of the
more acceptable version `Overlaid` but I also left it as it is.~~

~~**Note:** In some places the term `Applyable` is used instead of the
correct version `Applicable` but I also left it as it is.~~

**Note:** Some usage of British vs American english e.g. `judgement` vs
`judgment`, `initialise` vs `initialize`, `optimise` vs `optimize` etc.
are both present in different places, but I suppose that's
understandable given the number of contributors.

~~**Note:** There is a spelling mistake in `.github/CODEOWNERS` but it
triggers errors in CI when I make changes to it, so I left it as it
is.~~

Davide Galassi 7035034710 Improve Client CLI help readability (#2073)
Currently the CLI `-h/--help` commad output is almost unreadable as (for
some commands) it:
- doesn't provide a short brief of what the command does.
- doesn't separate the options description in smaller paragraphs.
- doesn't use a smart wrap strategy for lines longer than the number of
columns in the terminal.

Follow some pics taken with a 100 cols wide term

Aaro Altonen f36749b99e Prepare sc-network for ProtocolController/NotificationService (#14080)
* Prepare `sc-network` for `ProtocolController`/`NotificationService`

The upcoming notification protocol refactoring requires that protocols
are able to communicate with `sc-network` over unique and direct links.
This means that `sc-network` side of the link has to be created before
`sc-network` is initialized and that it is allowed to consume the object
as the receiver half of the link may not implement `Clone`.

Remove request-response and notification protocols from `NetworkConfiguration`
and create a new object that contains the configurations of these protocols
and which is consumable by `sc-network`. This is needed needed because, e.g.,
the receiver half of `NotificationService` is not clonable so `sc-network`
must consume it when it's initializing the protocols in `Notifications`.

Similar principe applies to `PeerStore`/`ProtocolController`: as per current
design, protocols are created before the network so `Protocol` cannot be
the one creating the `PeerStore` object. `FullNetworkConfiguration` will be
used to store the objects that `sc-network` will use to communicate with
protocols and it will also allow protocols to allocate handles so they
can directly communicate with `sc-network`.

Aaro Altonen 1a7f5be07f Extract syncing protocol from sc-network (#12828)
* Move import queue out of `sc-network`

Add supplementary asynchronous API for the import queue which means
it can be run as an independent task and communicated with through
the `ImportQueueService`.

This commit removes removes block and justification imports from
`sc-network` and provides `ChainSync` with a handle to import queue so
it can import blocks and justifications. Polling of the import queue is
moved complete out of `sc-network` and `sc_consensus::Link` is
implemented for `ChainSyncInterfaceHandled` so the import queue
can still influence the syncing process.

* Move stuff to SyncingEngine

* Move `ChainSync` instanation to `SyncingEngine`

Some of the tests have to be rewritten

* Move peer hashmap to `SyncingEngine`

* Let `SyncingEngine` to implement `ChainSyncInterface`

* Introduce `SyncStatusProvider`

* Move `sync_peer_(connected|disconnected)` to `SyncingEngine`

* Implement `SyncEventStream`

Remove `SyncConnected`/`SyncDisconnected` events from
`NetworkEvenStream` and provide those events through
`ChainSyncInterface` instead.

Modify BEEFY/GRANDPA/transactions protocol and `NetworkGossip` to take
`SyncEventStream` object which they listen to for incoming sync peer
events.

* Introduce `ChainSyncInterface`

This interface provides a set of miscellaneous functions that other
subsystems can use to query, for example, the syncing status.

* Move event stream polling to `SyncingEngine`

Subscribe to `NetworkStreamEvent` and poll the incoming notifications
and substream events from `SyncingEngine`.

The code needs refactoring.

* Make `SyncingEngine` into an asynchronous runner

This commits removes the last hard dependency of syncing from
`sc-network` meaning the protocol now lives completely outside of
`sc-network`, ignoring the hardcoded peerset entry which will be
addressed in the future.

Code needs a lot of refactoring.

* Code refactoring

* sc-cli: Fix bugs after switching to clap3

Before switching to clap3 we support cli options like `--reserved-nodes A B` and after you needed to
pass `--reserved-nodes` cli option multiple times `--reserved-nodes A --reserved-nodes B`. This is
fixed by setting `multiple_occurrences(true)` option. This also done for all the other `Vec` cli
options in `sc-cli`. Besides that `--sync` wasn't supporting case insensitive parsing of the value.
This is now also supported. For both regressions a test is added. Besides that the pr removes all
the `rename_all = PascalCase` attributes, because they are not needed. All other `ArgEnum`s were
checked and all are already using `ignore_case(true)`.

* Bring back `PascalCase`, because otherwise it falls back to `kebab-case`...

Bastian Köcher 80830d2e1d Enable local addresses in DHT when chain type == Local | Development (#7538)
* Enable local addresses in DHT when chain type == `Local` | `Development`

This pr changes when to add local addresses to DHT. Instead of only
checking if `--discover-local` and `--dev` are present, we now also
check if the chain type is `Local` or `Development`.

Max Inden 4e9256aba2 client/network: Allow configuring Kademlia's disjoint query paths (#7356)
The Rust libp2p-kad implementation can require iterative queries to use
disjoint paths for increased resiliency in the presence of potentially
adversarial nodes.

Allow Substrate users to enable this feature via the
`--kademlia-disjoint-query-paths` flag.

Max Inden bd2dbc055c client/network: Remove option to disable yamux flow control (#7358)
With the `OnRead` flow control option yamux "send[s] window updates only
when data is read on the receiving end" and not as soon as "a Stream's
receive window drops to 0".

Yamux flow control has proven itself. This commit removes the feature
flag. Yamux flow control is now always enabled.

Bastian Köcher 7bf838f225 Combine default values used at initialization in a trait (#6857)
This moves default values used in the Substrate code base when
initializing a service into a common trait. Currently this trait only
contains listen ports, but this could be extended in the future.
Essentially this will make overriding these values much easier for
Cumulus, where we have 2 nodes running in one binary.

Toralf Wittner 421ef498f4 network: Only insert global addresses into the DHT. (#5735)
* network: Only insert global addresses into the DHT.

Currently every address reported via libp2p-identify is inserted into
the DHT which thus contains a multitude of unreachable addresses such
as from 127.0.0.0/8 or 10.0.0.0/8.

Issue #5099 suggested a dedicated service over UDP to gauge the
reachability of an address, which would however incur extra I/O costs
and be of limited use.

As an alternative and simpler tactic, this PR only allows global IP
addresses to be inserted into the DHT unless an explicit command-line
flag `--allow-non-global-addresses-in-dht` is given or a node is
started with `--dev`. This opt-in behaviour is meant to allow
site-local networks to still make use of a DHT.

* Enable non-global in more test setups.

* Replace command-line option with different name.

* Another test fix.
